If you are a food and wine tourism enthusiast - or if you claim to be one - then your travelogue simply needs a Chianti wine and food tour.
The area of the Chianti hills - also known as Monti del Chianti - is a short mountain chain about twenty km long, straddling the provinces of Florence, Siena and a small part of Arezzo.
The gastronomic - and cultural - tour we have designed for you has two main characteristics:
Before going into more detail, we would like to underline that during the Chianti food and wine tour - and cultural tour - that we have designed, you will eat and drink some of the best food and wines you have ever tasted and you will make one of the most suggestive itineraries in central Italy.
Do you know what the Tuscans say, with their fascinating aspirated accent recognisable among 1000? You never get old sitting around a table. Ready to stay young? Let’s roll!
Among the Italian on the road itineraries, this one in Chianti will lead you to the discovery of green hills covered with vineyards and olive groves, of narrow villages between large medieval walls, winding streets, castles and fortresses, and some of the most spectacular Italian cities, such as Florence and Siena (don't miss a visit to the historic centre of Florence, the Duomo of Siena and Piazza del Campo, the shell-shaped square, famous all over the world because twice a year it hosts the famous Palio di Siena).
The municipalities that make up the Chianti area are Florence, Siena, Barberino Val d'Elsa, Castellina in Chianti, Certaldo, Chianciano Terme, Gaiole in Chianti, Greve in Chianti, Impruneta, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Poggibonsi, Radda in Chianti, Rapolano Terme, San Casciano in Val di Pesa, San Gimignano, Tavarnelle di Val di Pesa, Vinci and Volterra.
Let the Bentley Bentayga lead you to discover each of them, to be explored calmly: during the two weeks that we have planned, you can visit churches, museums, weekly markets, participate in events and festivals. What is the literal main course of Chianti - which, we are sure, you have been waiting for since the beginning of this short excursion, with your mouth watering - is its food and wine. In the 15 days spent in this part of Tuscany, you will be spoiled for choice.
You will not be able to resist the Florentine call, the high cut t-bone steak, to be cooked rare on the grill or barbequed, ribollita, the typical bread and vegetable soup, hare pappardelle, pappardelle alla boscaiola or even wild boar pappardelle.
Florentine steak, ribollita (or bread and vegetable soup) and homemade pappardelle are among the best known and tastiest dishes of Tuscan cuisine and must be accompanied with rivers of Chianti wine, Rosso di Montepulciano, Brunello di Montalcino, some of the best known and loved Tuscan wines, even by famous people. Just to give you an example, Sting has a magnificent estate in the area with an adjoining farm - the Palagio - whose cellar produces prestigious labels dedicated to songs by the most famous member of the Police, such as Message in a Bottle, Sister Moon and When We Dance.
What else can we add? Tuck in, and enjoy!
